Cupping

The earliest recorded use of cupping is from the fourth century. Originally hollowed out animal horns were used, but now our clinic uses glass cups in the “fire” style. The oxygen in the cups is quickly burned out with a flaming cotton ball soaked in alcohol (FUN!) and set on tight muscles on the patient. The suction in the cup creates a relaxing tension which helps to stimulate qi and blood flow, and remove toxins. Cups can be used for muscle aches, weight loss, respiratory infections and asthma, etc.  They do leave round marks on the skin for a few days as if you have been attacked by an octopus’ suction cups.  Very fun, very relaxing, and gives you bragging rights with your friends.
